“Volunteering for Habitat for Humanity has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Not only are we able to help our homeowners by providing affordable housing, we are also building communities and creating secure futures for hundreds of children. Helping build Habitat homes provides an opportunity to have a good time while learning new skills working with some of the most generous people in our community.” – Andy Kramer

Andy earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Union College in Schenectady, New York and went on to get a degree in Industrial Design from Art Center College College of Design in Los Angeles. Andy spent his career in the field of exhibition design and worked on museum projects both in the United States and abroad. In 1985 he founded West Office Exhibition Design, based in Oakland, CA. Among the projects the firm developed were the Los Angeles Science Center, the Washington State History Museum, the World Forestry Center in Portland, as well as projects in Hong Kong and other major cities in China, Taiwan and Singapore.

Upon retiring, Andy and his wife, Carol, moved to Grass Valley where they raise sheep and cattle on their ranch. They enjoy traveling with friends and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Andy currently serves on the Board of Directors for MOSAC, the Museum of Science and Curiosity in Sacramento where he chairs the Design and Construction Committee. He started volunteering for Nevada County Habitat for Humanity as a construction volunteer in 2014 and joined the Board of Directors in 2019.

As we welcome Andy to the role, we’d be remiss if we did not say THANK YOU to Bill Croker, NCHFH our board president from 2022 to 2023. In partnership with our Board of Directors and Executive Director Lorraine Larson, Bill successfully helped to lead us through some of the hardest times we’ve faced as an organization. Bill remains active on the board on Habitat committees.

We are grateful to have such wise leaders on our team and look forward to many accomplishments in the future.
