Nevada County Habitat for Humanity would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to the community for their overwhelming support of our annual Street of Dreams fundraiser.
On Thursday, September 26th 2024, nearly 250 local supporters came together at the Veterans Memorial Building to help build safe, decent, and affordable homes. We are still totaling up all the numbers and we be announcing the amounts raised our next newsletters.
Executive Director Lorraine Larson said, “An event like this comes together because of a tremendous amount of hard work. A dedicated team of volunteers and staff work for months to make this night special. There are truly no words to adequately express my gratitude for the monumental effort it takes to put an evening like this together.” Nevada County Habitat for Humanity has already completed 45 affordable homes since 1995. With the continued support of our community partners, we’re set to begin constructing our 46th home in just a few weeks.
Angel, a single dad to three children, was the event’s featured guest. As he shared his story, and the story of his families housing journey, the audience was deeply moved. “We’ve been homeless, we’ve lived in motels, it’s been hard, but now, thanks to all of the donors here, my kids are going to have a safe place to call home.”
This year’s event was made possible by the generosity of many local businesses and individuals. Twenty businesses stepped up to support the event as sponsors recognized below.
In addition to our amazing corporate sponsors, we had over 200 generous individuals and local businesses donate auction items to make the silent and live auction a truly special part of the night. A special note of thanks goes out to Evelyn Naake, Mary Sperlazza, Pat Miller-Fee, and Dina Rubino whose leadership and dedication help make our auction a success year after year. We were also deeply grateful to have the caring support of Beale Air Force Base volunteers and Mr. David Pistone and his students from Mount Saint Mary’s. “Please consider supporting the businesses that donate to this great cause. They are truly making a difference in our community,” said Lorraine Larson, Nevada County Habitat for Humanity Executive Director. To all who participated in this year’s Street of Dreams, your kindness and generosity have forever changed the lives of Angel’s family.
