On Tuesday, August 20th, we celebrated the dedication of our latest Habitat for Humanity home, #45! The event was filled with laughter, gratitude, community spirit, and tears of joy. Construction volunteers, donors, neighbors, board members, and friends gathered to welcome Angela and her three children into their new home.

Nevada County Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Lorraine Larson MC’d the event and expressed gratitude on behalf of the organization: “Today is a day of love and celebration, and we are here to dedicate this beautiful home and celebrate this great victory in the fight to provide affordable housing in Nevada County.”

Board Chair Andy Kramer thanked the attendees for their generous support. Reverand Kevin Tarsa blessed the home and presented the family with a Bible. Construction Manager Ian Nansen shared about the journey to complete the house.

Mike Dent, the Nevada County Director of Child Support, Housing, and Community Service, shared congratulations on behalf of the County: “We wanted to let you know that the team, which is not just Nevada County, but also Grass Valley and Nevada City support this objective. It’s one of our goals.” He also represented the Regional Housing Trust Fund, a consortium representing Nevada County and the cities of Grass Valley and Nevada City. The RHTF was one of the major donors that made the home possible.

Angela and her children were the stars of the day as they cut the yellow ribbon in front of their new home. The entire group celebrated the hard work and tireless effort Angela put into the home’s construction as she contributed over 500 hours toward the home’s completion. The dedication was filled with warm moments as the family expressed their deep appreciation for the hard work and generosity that brought them to this day.

The event concluded with a tour, cake and refreshments, providing a time of fellowship and reflection. Attendees shared stories, connected, and celebrated the accomplishment. This home is more than just a building; it is a testament to the commitment and love that binds our local Habitat for Humanity team together.
