Nevada County Habitat is Looking for Good Volunteers!
While the most visible volunteer role with habitat is in the building and construction of homes, volunteers are also needed in many aspects of the Habitat's efforts to provide affordable housing to more local families.
Your skills and interests no doubt match one or more of Habitat's needs. For example, listed below are Habitat's committees. All of these groups are made up of volunteers just like you, and we encourage you to make an inquiry or offer your help. Together, we make Nevada County a better place to live and work.
Board Development: Recruits and provides orientation for new Board members.
Building: Completes the actual construction using both volunteer and professional resources, including landscaping. Especially needed are people who can coordinate and schedule volunteer help and resources.
Development and Community Relations: Build the financial support for our organization.
Family Selection: Holds informational meetings for those interested in becoming Habitat homeowners. Interviews and selects deserving and qualified families.
Family Support: Provides on-going support and mentoring for homeowners.
Finance: Directs the financial operation of the Habitat organization.
ReStore Committee: Directs and helps operate the ReStore, including working at the store and picking up donations.
Site Selection: Seeks Suitable sites for future Habitat homes.
Volunteer Resource: Recruits and trains Habitat volunteers.
In addition, Habitat seeks assistance in helping at the office as phone volunteers, coordinating construction volunteers, coordinating and providing lunches to construction volunteers, helping to coordinate and serve at special events, providing food for events adn gatherings.
